We hereby inform you that, as of the publication of the April 2025 genetic evaluation results, the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers (PFHBiPM)
will assume full responsibility for conducting the routine genetic evaluation of Polish Holstein-Friesian cattle.
This change results from Decision No. 50/2024 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Czesław Siekierski, dated 16 December 2024, which approved
amendments to the breeding program enabling the implementation of single-step genetic evaluation in Poland, starting from the April 2025 evaluation.
At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the National Research Institute of Animal Production (IZ-PIB) will continue to actively support the development
of the national genetic evaluation system for Polish Holstein-Friesian cattle. The Institute remains responsible for managing and co-managing key databases, including
the Polish Cattle Genotype Database (cSNP) and pedigree databases, participating in accreditation and the ICAR certification tests
(https://www.icar.org/list-of-certified-dna-data-interpretation-centres/), and maintaining cooperation with the EuroGenomics Cooperative.
Furthermore, the Institute will continue to be involved in routine genetic evaluations as the entity responsible for receiving and processing all genotypes
for single-step genetic value estimation. Ongoing collaboration with breeders, insemination companies, and KOWR-affiliated farms will also be maintained.
Under the agreement concluded with PFHBiPM, the Institute’s activities will now be focused on further advancing the national genetic evaluation system,
including the incorporation of new traits.
